Everything We Know About the Game of Thrones Prequel House of the Dragon, release date

The long-awaited Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon is finally in production. The series is set to debut on HBO Max in 2022 and will chronicle the rise and fall of House Targaryen.

The show will be based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, which tells the history of House Targaryen. It will be set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and will focus on the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.

Here’s everything we know about House of the Dragon so far:

The cast includes Paddy Considine as Viserys Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Eve Best as Rhaenys Targaryen, and Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole.

The series will be 10 episodes long.

It will be written and executive produced by Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik, who will also direct several episodes.

House of the Dragon is set to debut on HBO Max in 2022.
