Getting to Know The Characters of Big City Green

If you can imagine your childhood home, relatives, and questionable hairstyles as animated characters, then you’ve got a good idea of what to expect from Big City Greens.

It premiered on Disney Channel on June 18, 2018, as an animated comedy adventure series created by The Houghton Brothers. Many renowned actors provide their voices to the series, including Chris Houghton, Marieve Herington, Bob Joles, and Artemis Pebdani.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the characters in Big City Green in this article.

Chris Houghton voices Cricket Green in the show, Artemis Pebdani portrays sweet Gramma Alice, Marieve Herington says her quirky older sister Tilly Green in the front, and Bob Joles represents a hardworking father, Bill Green in the show.

The guest cast for the show includes Emmy Award-winner Jon Hamm as the store manager Louis; Raven-Symone, who has recently been nominated for an Emmy Award, as the news reporter Maria Media; Busta Rhymes, who has been nominated for a GRAMMY Award as a wise fish; Danny Trejo as the bodyguard Vasquez; actors Paul F. Tompkins and Lauren Lapkus, as city hipsters Justin and Val; Andy Daly as Officer Keys; Scott Aukerman as a radio DJ; Griffin McElroy as a pepper merchant; Paul Scheer as supermarket manager Chip Whistler; Zeno Robinson as Cricket’s best friend, Remy; Lorraine Toussaint as Remy’s mom, Rashida; Colton Dunn as Remy’s dad; and Anna Akana as café barista, Gloria.

Big City Green has a few main characters who follow their agendas, as shown in the picture below.

1. Cricket (voiced by Chris Houghton)

This 10-year-old country boy is known for being troublesome and is always barefoot. Whenever he had the opportunity to discover Big City, he would be fascinated by what he found. It was his job to work at Big Coffee in “Critterball Crisis” until it closed in “Chipwrecked.”

In the early episodes of Season 3, he worked as a delivery boy at Gloria + Green Café until the family moved back to Smalton in “The Move.” “Bleeped,” tells us that his middle name is Ernest, which is in honor of his late paternal grandfather.

2. Tilly (voiced by Marieve Herington)

The older sister of Cricket is an eccentric and imaginative due to her strange and creative nature. Tilly frequently accompanies her with Saxon, a homemade doll she made from scratch from an old sack that Tilly created. Although cheerful and incredibly kind, like her younger brother, she can also have moments of selfishness occasionally.

There was an episode called “Mama Bird” in which Mama Bird was angry and jealous because the birds didn’t show affection towards her and favored Cricket over her. According to “The Move,” Tilly was born in the woods, revealed in the series’s final episode.

3. Bill (voiced by Bob Joles as an Adult;

Cricket and Tilly’s father, Andre Robinson (as a child) is the son of Gramma Alice and Cricket’s father. Bill is an experienced farmer who is overprotective and cautious because he lost part of a finger when a hay baler hit him in the past.

4. Gramma Alice (voiced by Artemis Pebdani)

The Green family farm belongs to Bill’s mother, Cricket, and Tilly’s paternal grandmother, who owns it in Big City. She commonly exhibits cantankerous and combative behavior to hide her love and affection for her family and her passion for herself.

There’ll be no surprise when Alice returns to Big City when the family moves to their farm in “The Move.” She decides to stay in Big City at first but later moves in with them temporarily after “Homeward Hound,” using the animals sneaking into Big City as an excuse to move in. It is revealed in “Cricket Versus” that her full name is Alice Delores Green.

5. Nancy (voiced by Wendi McLendon-Covey as an Adult)

This is Cricket, Tilly’s mother and Bill’s ex-wife. It’s no secret that she is a former biker with a rebellious streak. After moving to the Big City with her family, she briefly went into incarceration before being released.

They are indeed divorced, but she and Bill remain good friends, and she is frequently involved in her children’s lives; she even moved back to Smalton with her family when they repurchased their farm.

6. Remy (voiced by Zeno Robinson)

Cricket’s best friend, whom he meets shortly after he moves to Big City, is the person he looks up to. Even though he comes from an affluent family, he is highly optimistic and fun-loving, but he also struggles with low self-esteem.

The Greens moved back to Smalton with him later in the season, and he tags along with them. “Remy Rescue” reveals his last name as Remington, which he has used throughout his life.
