Tim Burton’s movie BIG EYES is a very interesting one. It’s also one of his most entertaining and least weird movies. It’s hard not to feel sorry for Amy Adams as Margaret. She plays a woman with mixed feelings in a way that is both subtle and effective. BIG EYES sends some mixed messages, which is a shame. It has a spiritual side that praises truthfulness and criticizes lying and manipulation. It also has a feminist, politically correct tone. So, you should be careful.

MORE DETAILS:

BIG EYES is a biopic about Margaret Keane and her famous paintings, which were a big deal in the 1950s and 1960s. It was directed by Tim Burton.

Margaret (Amy Adams), who was abused by her husband Frank, leaves him and runs away with their daughter to San Francisco. Margaret makes a living by painting portraits of people she sees on the street. She meets the cool painter Walter Keane, who compliments her work. Frank threatens to take their daughter away from Margaret because she doesn’t take care of her well, so Walter suggests that they get married and he’ll take care of them. Even though she doesn’t know Walter very well, she agrees to marry him.

One day, when he was trying to sell some of his own art at a club, someone bought a painting by his wife of a little girl with unusually big eyes. Walter takes credit for the work in order to make the sale. After some smart advertising, the paintings start to fly off the wall.

Margaret is upset to find out that Walter has been taking all the credit for her paintings, but she is too quiet to say anything about it. Walter says that since they are married, it doesn’t really matter who gets the credit, and the money is good.

The paintings with big eyes are a big hit, so Walter thinks it would be a good idea to sell prints of them. Margaret keeps painting in secret while Walter gets all the credit and makes a lot of money. Margaret feels worse and worse about all their lies the longer they do this. Walter gets more and more dangerous over time, and Margaret has to leave him. Years later, she decides to step up and take credit for all of her work. Walter and Margaret take the case to court, where there are a couple of very funny scenes.

Tim Burton’s movie BIG EYES is a very interesting one. It’s also not as weird as some of the other movies he’s made. It’s hard not to feel sorry for Amy Adams as Margaret. Amy plays a woman with many different feelings in a way that is both subtle and very effective. Christoph Waltz is a very talented actor, and he also does a great job playing Walter, who is smart and cunning but ends up being a bad person. BIG EYES is an entertaining movie, but it doesn’t stand out as Margaret’s paintings do.

There are different ideas in BIG EYES. One can’t help but hope that Margaret will find the courage to say what’s really going on. So, the movie shows that lying, manipulating, and being dishonest are all bad things. Still, the movie has a subtle feminist and politically correct tone. Margaret is treated unfairly and unjustly, but some parts of the movie don’t make sense and seem out of place. For example, when Margaret’s conscience tells her that lying is wrong, she goes to a priest for help. The priest tells her to “submit to her husband” without asking her any more questions. It’s not in the Bible and doesn’t make sense for a priest to tell her to disobey God because of her husband. Margaret eventually joins the Jehovah’s Witnesses, which gives her a new sense of what’s right and wrong. It gives her the courage to stand up to Walter as well. But BIG EYES also has some very bad language in it. So, you should be careful.
